Canservation

Active ImageSignal Mountain Middle School students  with  Mrs. Brock  and Mrs. Faulk recently participated in Canstruction 2010 where the theme was "Canservation".  Students worked with local architect Craig Peavy.  Students involved were: Kylila Tucker, Caroline Filston, Anna Cameron, Sarah Kate and Davis Brock, Alex Faulk, Fraser Goodgame,  Allwyn Fisher, Joseph Greer, Ryan Stevens, Austin and Daniel Sawyer.  Pictured are some of the students and the Canstruction structure which was a cylindrical map of the world. 

 
Help Needed!
Amanda Russell's senior project, One for DiaperChanges, will be extended by one week, until March 12. Please help babies in low-income families by donating diapers to the DiaperChanges non-profit organization. The middle school grade that brings in the most diapers will win a dress-down day. The high school grade that brings in the most, will win an ice-cream social during advisory. Each grade is asked to bring a different size diaper as follows:
 
6th - size Newborn
7th - size #1
8th - size #1 Pull-up
9th - size #2
10th - size #3
11th - size #4
12th - size #2 Pull-up
 
Exam Schedule
Middle School Exams:
Monday – 3/8 A Day: 3A and 4A  classes take exams
Wednesday – 3/10 B Day: 3B and 4B  classes take exams
Thursday – 3/11 A Day: 1A  and 2A  classes take exams
Friday – 3/12 B Day: 1B and 2B classes take exams
 
High School Exams:
Wednesday - 3/8 1st & 2nd block Exams
Thursday - 3/11 3rd & 4th block Exams
Friday - 3/12 Make-up Day
 
(Tuesday 3/9 is ACT/PD day-no students report except for Juniors, all teachers report)

The students will be on a regular block schedule to have adequate time for the exams.  The students will only take 2 exams per day.

Come to the PTSA Meeting on March 16th at 7:00 p.m.   Dr. LeAnn Welch will be covering great information on how to get better connected with our school using the school's computers and parent Andre Dantzler will give us information on how to stay safe from the dangers of the internet!  You will not want to miss this!!!  Download flyer here !

 
All County Band Honors

Twenty-Nine SMMS Band students were selected to participated in the All County Band Clinic.  The Clinic was held Thursday February 25th and Friday February 26th concluding with a concert.  Over 125 students auditioned for the 80 slots in this years clinic.  Twelve of the selected SMMS students are returnees to the All-County Band and are noted with a (*).  The selected students include (not in order as shown in the photo): Zach Brown*, Micajah Tucker*, Kylila Tucker*, Rachel Mersch*, Kellie Matthews*, Hogan McCormack*, Maggie Daly*, Hannah Peterson, Anna Pyron*, Jonathan Shander*, Seebree DePreter, Marth-Anne Turner*, Christopher Hudson*, Jordan Alexander, Wil Markham*, Emily Phillips, Adam Pickett, John Wood, Ben Brown, Megan Michel, Jordyn Parker, Emily Thornton, Maddie Lancaster, GiGi Leonard, Delaney Barnes, Morgan Lakey, Evan Kent, Joe Coffey-Slattery, and Anne Marie Darke.

Progress reports are sent home electronically (unless requested otherwise) so if you have not been receiving reports from a specific high school teacher, please email Lizetta Paturalski, or email Jan Raines if you haven't received a progress report from a middle school teacher.  In your email let us know which teacher hasn't sent you a report, and your preferred email address.  We'll make sure the appropriate files are updated.  We appreciate your assistance!
